Why It Matters

Slips and falls are the most expensive risk you're not measuring

Slips and trips account for around 1 in 5 serious workplace injuries in Australia. Under WHS law, every employer has a duty to keep floors safe - and to monitor them as surfaces wear, get sealed, or change.

A SlipGuard test turns "we think it's fine" into a documented, scientific record - the kind of evidence that stands up to auditors, insurers and courts.

Questions

Slip testing, explained

Wet pendulum testing (Wessex) measures slip resistance when a surface is wet and reports a P-rating (P0โ€“P5). Dry floor friction testing (Tortus) measures the coefficient of friction on a dry surface. Many sites need both, depending on where water is likely to be present.

P-ratings classify wet slip resistance from P0 (lowest) to P5 (highest). Most commercial areas need P3 or P4 under the National Construction Code, with P4-P5 expected in high-risk wet zones like pool surrounds. Your report states the measured rating and what it means for compliance.

A comprehensive written report is produced and distributed to your relevant personnel within 48 hours of the on-site test. Hazardous or at-risk areas are clearly highlighted.

Yes. SlipGuard is Perth-based and tests across both metro and country WA - including Mandurah, Bunbury, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie and beyond. Get in touch with your location and we'll sort scheduling.

Slip resistance changes invisibly as floors are sealed, cleaned, polished or worn. A "fine-looking" floor can fall below safe ratings. Regular testing is part of a sound WHS risk-assessment process and gives you documented evidence of due diligence.
